Parking Garage Demolition Ontario

Parking Garage Demolition | 388 Carlaw

388 Carlaw is a parking garage structure that was rendered unsafe due to years of salt erosion. Bedrock Excavating was commissioned to demolish the full slab, paving the way for the construction of a new parking garage.

Situated adjacent to a train track, frequent vibrations caused by passing trains added a layer of complexity to the working conditions. Further, the tight height restrictions necessitated the use of mini excavators, inevitably slowing the demolition process.

Through meticulous planning and rigorous safety measures, Bedrock not only managed to complete the project on time but finished ahead of schedule.

Parking Garage Backfill Ontario project

Parking Garage Backfill | 25 Mabelle

Located at 25 Mabelle in Toronto, Ontario is a newly constructed three story underground parking garage. Bedrock Excavating was tasked with connecting a new weeping tile and backfilling around the newly constructed ramp to align with existing grade height.

In order for trucks and machines to access the site, they were required to drive across a suspended slab. To make this possible the parking garage was shorn up from parking level 3 to parking level 1, enabling the creation of an access road atop the roof deck. This involved meticulous planning to ensure an even distribution of weight across the entire structure while seamlessly integrating the new weeping tile system.

Despite the complexities involved, Bedrock Excavating successfully executed the project, overcoming challenges such as maneuvering heavy machinery on the suspended slab.

  • Reused clean fill

  • Fixed drainage

  • Reopened Parking Garage

ENVIRONMENTAL CLEANUP Ontario project

ENVIRONMENTAL CLEANUP | jonny b’s AUTOMOTIVE & CAR CARE

Johnny B’s Automotive & Car Care, a well-known and respected shop in Meaford, ON, faced a devastating setback in May 2023 when a tragic fire burnt the establishment to the ground. Determined to rebuild the family owned and operated shop, the owner, John Bulsink, immediately began cleanup of the land. Once the debris was cleared, Bedrock was brought in for soil remediation. Bedrock provided soil tests, and facilitated the removal of contaminated soil from the site and ensured its delivery to a designated contaminated fill site.

The unpredictable weather of Toronto’s Winter months made the task more difficult. Fluctuating between freezing temperatures and thawing conditions, the soil became alternately frozen and muddy, posing significant challenges to the removal process.

Bedrock Excavating’s readiness to adjust to changing conditions enabled them to navigate the complexities of the soil removal process efficiently. Despite the weather-induced delays, Bedrock's dedication ensured that the task was completed as swiftly as conditions allowed, facilitating the commencement of rebuilding efforts for Johnny B’s Automotive & Car Care.
